International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IH&RA)

Founded in 1946 in Paris, France and move to Geneva, Switzerland as of January 2008. The IH&RA is the only business organisation representing the hospitality industry worldwide. Its members are national hotel and restaurant associations throughout the world, and international and national hotel and restaurant chains representing some 50 brands. Hotel Technology - Next Generation is a nonprofit organization with global scope, formed in 2002 to facilitate the development of next-generation, customer-centric technologies to better meet the needs of the global hotel community. HTNG was formed by nine individuals from four continents, representing hotel companies, consultants, and academia. Based on feedback from the global hotel community during 2002, the founders appointed an Executive Board consisting entirely of senior hotel company executives with technology responsibility. The board has been actively engaging in discussions with other hotel companies and with vendors and has formulating next steps, leading to formal customer-vendor Integration Workgroups starting in September 2003. Workgroups will focus on specific integration issues and design a common technical architecture and platform that customers and vendors alike can agree to support.
