Saffron

Shaner Hotel Group
That flea-bag hotel you once stayed in may now be more inviting thanks to the Shaner Hotel Group, which buys, renovates, repositions, and re-brands hotels. The company owns and manages more than 50 hotels containing more than 8,000 rooms in 24 states, mainly in the East and the South. Shaner's hotels are affiliated with several major brands, including Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hawthorn Suites, Holiday Inn, Marriott, and Radisson. Brothers Fred and Lance Shaner founded the company in 1976, when they began buying and renovating small apartments, "mom-and-pop" motels, and student housing units. In 1983 the company bought its first hotel, a 95-room Sheraton that it later rebranded as a Best Western.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is the largest Asian-based deluxe hotel group in the region and regarded as one of the world's finest hotel management companies. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is the trade name of Shangri-La Asia, which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This ownership change took place in 1997; before this the management company was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kuok Group.

SHILO INNS was founded in 1974, and today, has more than 45 convenient locations in nine western states. Shilo Inns is considered the largest private, independently owned and operated hospitality company in the Western United States. Mark S. Hemstreet, Founder and Owner of Shilo Inns, learned a lot about the hospitality business from his mother and father. He demonstrated his entrepreneurial abilities at the age of 16 as summer manager of a small motel. He cultivated an early vision of developing the best independent hotel/motel/resort chain in the Pacific Northwest. The results of that experience, and dream, culminated in his officially opening the first Shilo Inn at age 24, in 1974 (26-plus years ago).
