The Dow Hotel Company
The Dow Hotel Company, headquartered in Seattle, is a hotel owner/investor and operator of 10 first-class, full-service hotels throughout the United States. The company's portfolio of owned and managed properties is comprised of institutional grade hotels, under such brands as Marriott, Hilton, Embassy Suites, Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, and Doubletree. The addition of the Hilton Atlanta Northeast hotel is the second purchase by The Dow Hotel Company in the past two months, having recently acquired the Doubletree Hotel in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, which will be converted to a Hilton in the first quarter of 2006 after a substantial renovation. The company aggressively seeks to acquire, and/or manage mid- to large-size, institutional grade, full service hotels, especially those that have extensive food and beverage capabilities. The Eton Collection
The Eton Collection is owned by Westmont Hospitality Group and comprises four boutique hotels in London and Edinburgh including its flagship hotel, Threadneedles in the City of London. Thistle Hotels
Thistle Hotels is trying to stick it to the competition with its chain of UK hotels. The company owns and operates more than 55 properties in the UK, including 23 hotels in London (about two-thirds of sales), the most of any hotelier in that city. Targeting both business and leisure travelers, its four-star hotels feature such amenities as fax, modem, and PC hookups, as well as restaurants, conference rooms, and lounges. It also is adding full-service health spas at some of its hotels. Thistle has spent the past five years renovating its properties into four-star hotels and rebranding them under the Thistle name. New Zealand's Brierley Investments owns 46% of the company.
