TTRA Call For Papers And Posters

Travel And Tourism Research Association

The 1997 Travel Research Committee would like to invite you to participate in the 28th Annual Conference of TTRA in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The theme of this year's Conference is: The Evolution of Tourism: Adjusting to Change.

This year there will be approximately eighteen papers presented in seminar format and thirty additional "meet the author" presentations in poster format. The seminar sessions will be fully integrated into the conference agenda, while the poster presentations will begin just prior to the opening reception and will be displayed during refreshment breaks throughout the conference.

Seminar presentations should be based on completed works. Materials submitted for consideration must be limited to 2-4 page abstracts (1,250 word maximum) and should include the following sections: (1) introduction, (2) objectives, (3) methods, and (4) findings. The Travel Research Committee is asking that all authors use the highest quality graphics and 35mm color slides rather than overhead projections.

Abstracts or completed papers (limited to 10 pages) will be published in the conference Proceedings and should be made available at the conference. Authors are asked to use the Journal of Travel Research or APA for format and graphic quality requirements.

Poster presentation materials should be submitted by those researchers whose MATERIALS LEND THEMSELVES TO VISUAL RATHER THAN VERBAL COMMUNICATION. Each poster session should stand alone and not be linked to another poster presentation. Textual content should be limited to a clear, concise statement of the problem and hypotheses, as well as a summary of pertinent findings and conclusions. Graphics should be publication quality. Poster materials submitted for review must consist of a 2-3 page (1,000 word maximum) abstract adequately covering: (1) introduction, (2) objectives, (3) materials, (4) findings, and (5) a poster layout for a 4 x 8 poster board. Abstracts will be published in the Proceedings and should be made available by the author during the Conference. Authors are asked to use the Journal of Travel Research or APA for format and graphic quality requirements.

Please submit an original and three copies of the 2-3 page abstract NO LATER THAN February 15,1997 to either Daniel Fesenmaier (seminar presentation) or Bill Norman (poster presentation) at the addresses below. Each submission will be blind reviewed. Notification of acceptance should be made by mid-March, 1997. Presenters are expected to both register and pay registration fees for the Conference.
