Ruby Tuesday Chooses MICROS as Partner for Centrally Hosted Applications

COLUMBIA, Md., Oct. 2 / MICROS Systems, Inc. MCRS, a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has been chosen by Ruby Tuesday Inc. to provide a complete suite of "hosted" software applications for its national chain of casual-dining restaurants. This long-term agreement includes all of the planned modules to be offered as part of the initiative.

Initially, Ruby Tuesday will roll out the information portal to approximately 600 restaurants, followed by the introduction of back office applications for inventory and labor management called "myoffice." The web- based applications will interface with existing MICROS 2700 and 3700 Point-of- Sale (POS) installations, providing near real-time reporting over the internet and a complete data warehouse.

In addition, Ruby Tuesday will pilot "iPOS," a centrally hosted POS solution. This application will provide the next-generation POS solution with all the benefits associated with high-speed connectivity for real-time data collection, customer relationship management (CRM), and database management, backed by store-level resilience in case of failure in the communications network. Software for iPOS is deployed automatically to reduce overall cost of ownership.

Sandy Beall, Chairman and CEO of Ruby Tuesday Inc. stated, "Choosing these centrally hosted applications from MICROS represents a significant step forward in the management of our more than 600 restaurants around the country. As a preferred POS vendor of ours for over 8 years, we know MICROS will serve us well as we install the full scope of applications."

"We believe Ruby Tuesday will realize great gains with the modules of in place," said Tom Giannopoulos, Chairman and CEO of MICROS. "Being able to view, analyze and act on up-to-the-minute chain and store-level data available, 24 hours a day, gives Ruby Tuesday a tremendous competitive advantage. Managers will have convenient access to all information from any web browser. We are proud to provide this crucial capability and to expand our alliance with Ruby Tuesday."
