NBTA Survey Finds Corporations Adjusting Travel Policies in Response to International Threats

Association Offers Homeland Security Resources for Corporate Travel Industry

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--In a survey of over 150 corporate travel managers conducted last week by the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), over 60% of respondents said their companies had no immediate plans to reduce travel in light of the recent national security events.

However, 62% said they were evaluating trips on a case-by-case basis and 49% are restricting travel to high-risk areas.

Providing a baseline for decisions being made in corporations across the country, 38% of survey respondents said they were instituting new travel communication procedures, 26% said they were restricting trips to essential travel only, and 23% said they were revising their current crisis management programs.

To assist the corporate travel industry and NBTA members in preparing for a possible military action in Iraq, NBTA is providing information, tips and resources through its website.

Resources include travel management best practices, security guidelines for travelers, and customer service policy updates from travel suppliers. Full results of the survey mentioned above can be found on the website as well.

"Our members need information to tackle the challenge of managing corporate travel in a crisis," said NBTA Executive Director Bill Connors. "Through timely and practical resources like this website and our upcoming crisis-related educational programs, NBTA provides a real value to our members and the public."
