DALLAS | As the number of U.S. women in the workforce climbs to a record level -- comprising nearly half of the workforce and business travel community(a) -- Wyndham International, Inc., (AMEX:WBR - News) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its WOMEN ON THEIR WAY® program, which has pioneered the efforts of women in business. Kicking off the anniversary celebration is the annual WOMEN ON THEIR WAY contest, honoring women who have made an impact on their industries and declaring one of them as the ultimate "Woman on Her Way."

"Since WOMEN ON THEIR WAY began as a travel tips contest to help improve the travel experience for everyone, we thought it was only fitting to begin the anniversary celebration by taking the program back to its roots while utilizing the components it has developed over the last 10 years," said Cary J. Broussard, senior vice president of diversity and WOMEN ON THEIR WAY programs for Wyndham International. "From day one, Wyndham has been committed to supporting women business travelers and this anniversary is a testament to the company's philosophy of listening and responding."

Keeping with the changing times, this year Wyndham has partnered with Panasonic of North America to revamp the contest, changing the entry format from a written essay to a three-minute video. Wyndham has also increased its donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to $5 per entry for the first 1,000 contest entries submitted, which Panasonic will match, making each entry worth a $10 donation to Komen. Wyndham will select five finalists with the most remarkable stories and insightful responses to the question: "Why should you or someone you know be named the Woman Business Traveler of the Year?" Each of the five finalists will receive:

  • A seven-day/six-night stay for two at any participating Wyndham hotel or resort
  • Round trip airfare for two from American Airlines
  • Choice of a Panasonic Lumix® digital camera or digital Palmcorder® Multicam(TM)

The grand-prize will be awarded to one of the five finalists, and will receive:

  • Panasonic's "Dream Media Room," which includes a 50-inch diagonal plasma HDTV television and a home theater audio system with DVD changer
  • A seven-day/six-night stay for two at any participating Wyndham hotel or resort
  • Round trip airfare for two from American Airlines

Additionally, the winning video will be featured on the Times Square Astrovision screen that is managed by Panasonic and NBC.

"Panasonic is thrilled to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of WOMEN ON THEIR WAY by honoring some of the most important travelers today -- women. By keeping up with the changing technology of today's busy women, Panasonic can help make travel and staying connected easier for everyone," said Penny Joseph, director, corporate outreach programs, Panasonic Corporation.

Wyndham's pioneering WOMEN ON THEIR WAY program remains the hospitality industry's longest-running branded program entirely dedicated to women business travelers. The program brought about numerous industry-first initiatives to solicit feedback including the Women Business Travelers Advisory Board, the travel tips and resources found on , and groundbreaking research with New York University's Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management. Based on this feedback, Wyndham has incorporated a myriad of programs and services both women and men appreciate including the "No Shoes? No Problem!" in-room exercise DVD; a room service arrival pre-call to ensure guests are prepared to answer the door; and healthier options on the room service menu, among many others.

How to Enter

The contest asks women business travelers to provide valuable advice for their peers based on their own individual experiences in the world of business travel. Women interested in entering the 2005 WOMEN ON THEIR WAY contest must have traveled a minimum of 5,000 airline miles for business and stayed at least five nights in a hotel during the past year. All entrants must meet the travel requirements and submit a three-minute or less video that addresses the question: "Why should you or someone you know be named the Woman Business Traveler of the Year?" Entry videos can be mailed to WOMEN ON THEIR WAY Award Video, 1950 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 6001, Dallas, TX, 75207. Entries must be accompanied with an entry form found on www.womenontheirway.com. Contestants who meet the criteria qualify to be featured as the monthly "Entry Spotlight" on WOMEN ON THEIR WAY's Web site, www.womenontheirway.com. The deadline for contest entry is Aug. 31, 2005.
