TOKYO, MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS) , a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, is pleased to announce that Tokyo based Solare Hotels & Resorts has become the largest MICROS OPERA Multi-property management system user in Japan. The initial phase of its roll out program encompassing 17 properties has now been completed.
Solare Hotels & Resorts is one of Japan's fastest growing hotel operators. Its brands include Chisun Inn, Chisun Hotel, Chisun Resort, Chisun Grand and the Solare Collection. Solare started with two hotels in 2003 and rapidly expanded its network to currently include 25 properties. Solare Hotels & Resorts expects to exceed 40 properties and 8,000 rooms by the end of 2005. Solare's goal was to establish a new standard of limited-service class hotels throughout Japan during the initial phase of growth before expanding into full service resorts and hotels.
"By creating a new standard in terms of upgraded hotels and service at reasonable prices, Solare was faced with the task of implementing an IT solution that would complement our financial, technical, and service requirements," said A. G. (Tony) Virili, President of Solare Hotels & Resorts. "MICROS worked closely with us in developing such a solution. The solution provides us with single image inventory and last room, best rate availability. We are pleased with the partnership approach of MICROS who had demonstrated its ability and willingness to work in this market segment, and we expect our relationship to continue as we push forward with our goal of 10,000 rooms by the end of 2006."
"Solare Hotels & Resorts' selection of the OPERA multi-property management system provides MICROS with a unique opportunity to expand into the Japanese limited-service hotel market segment," added Stefan M. Piringer, President of MICROS-Fidelio Asia/Pacific. "The solution deployed demonstrates OPERA's double byte and multi-property capabilities within a market segment that targets more than 72 million people who travel domestically each year -- the largest base market in Asia/Pacific."
