Scottsdale, Ariz. | JDA® Software Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: JDAS) the leading provider of hospitality revenue management solutions, today shared the results of discussions conducted at its executive dinner meeting held in conjunction with the HSMAI and HITEC conferences June 24 to 28 in Orlando, Florida. The meeting was held to gather top hospitality industry revenue management professionals to discuss how demand forecasting, the foundation of revenue optimization, can be refined to increase revenue for hotel companies. Attendees included leaders from Golden Tulip Hospitality Group, Carlson Hotels and other companies who were hosted by JDA’s hospitality revenue management team.
Golden Tulip Hospitality Group VP of electronic distribution and IT, Riko van Santen said, “Despite rapidly changing industry conditions, we have seen little fundamental change in the way hotels approach Revenue Management. I think there is a great opportunity for the major chains to re-focus their efforts on better pricing.”
Jim Rozell, who is leading Carlson Hotel’s Revenue Optimization team, agreed stating, “Pricing optimization is the largest untapped opportunity in hospitality today. Carlson is working with JDA to create a totally new way to apply the process of demand forecasting to deliver the highest possible revenue to its franchisees.”
Reflecting the growing importance of Revenue Management to the hotel and travel industry, the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) held a dedicated Revenue Management Strategy Conference in Orlando on June 25, 2007 that attracted representatives from hotel companies such as Hilton Hotels Corporation, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels Group and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
JDA Group Vice President Revenue Management Andy Archer said, “JDA’s groundbreaking work with such travel, transportation and hospitality industry leaders as Continental Airlines Cargo, DHL, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group and particularly TUI UK Ltd, one of the world’s largest leisure travel operators, has demonstrated how innovative pricing optimization and demand modeling processes can be applied across multiple industries. TUI now has an industry-leading pricing capability, founded upon deep expertise in demand forecasting. Carlson Hotels Worldwide is the latest company to benefit from the unique demand forecasting solution that is at the heart of JDA’s Next Generation Revenue Management platform for the Hospitality Industry.”
Carlson Hotels Worldwide signed an agreement with JDA in April for phase one of Carlson’s Next Generation Enterprise Revenue Management project. The multi-phase project will implement JDA’s Revenue Optimization platform to deliver more accurate demand forecasting to increase asset value and profitability for Carlson franchisees.
