A trip into the past with a party on the pulse of the times: the andel's Hotel Berlin recently dedicated an entire evening to the soul sounds of the legendary Detroit-based Motown record label. More than 1,750 guests were on hand to enjoy the musical journey through time. The event centred on the new soul compilation from Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, with the high point of the evening being the live concert with Motown legend Leroy Emmanuel. The performance blew away guests and organisers alike.
Vienna International Hotels & Resorts yesterday held its third successful customer event at the andel's design hotel in Berlin. The Motown Party 2011 rang in ITB 2011, the world's largest travel and tourism trade fair. More than 1,750 guests from a total of 10 countries accepted the invitation. The illustrious guest list included personalities from the tourism and hotel industry, famous German stars and local music fans.
The event was themed on the Detroit-based Motown record label and its legendary soul stars such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, The Temptations and The Jackson Five with a young Michael Jackson. The soul compilation "the motown party 2011", the latest music release from Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, pays homage to the Motown sound. The guests entered the party venue by passing through the "andel's time machine", which transported them back to the Detroit of the 1960s with decorations and party design to evoke that special Motor City soul.
Musical accompaniment was provided courtesy of DJ Ultimo, the DJ duo Menage à Trois, and a beat box and a cappella performance. But the highlight of the event was the live concert by the Selective Soul Club, the top-notch musicians who recorded the new VI album. The band's frontman is none other than Motown legend Leroy Emmanuel, a member of the legendary Funk Brothers and best friend of Marvin Gaye.
Host Ralph Alsdorf, General Manager of the andel's Hotel Berlin, was completely blown away by the Motown Party: "The andel's Hotel Berlin has been a top event location for years, but this event topped it all. I am excited to be able to see the hotel transformed into 1960s Detroit – and proud to present the andel's hotel to the international clientele on the eve of the ITB. My thanks to all employees and the organising team!" VI soul compilation "the motown party 2011" The new self-produced CD from Vienna International Hotels & Resorts is dedicated to the legendary Detroit-based Motown record label. The album is a colourful journey through Motown with modern interpretations of classic hits.
