Center also issues Compendium summarizing 2011 publications
Under the leadership of Professor Rohit Verma, executive director, CHR issued 34 research publications in 2011, including research reports, tools, and roundtable and conference proceedings. These publications are summarized by topic in one handy publication, the 2012 Compendium. Like all of the CHR's publications, the Compendium is available at no charge, thanks to the support of nearly 80 corporate partners and friends.
Cornell's Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration recorded an active year in 2011, with research reports, roundtables, and conferences all designed to develop and share research ideas that will improve industry strategy and operations. Now available on the CHR website, the CHR Annual Report explains how the combined efforts of researchers, industry practitioners, and corporate supporters have created a valuable knowledge resource that helps advance industry knowledge, practices, and finances.

A highlight of the year was the12th International Research Symposium on Service Excellence in Management, known as QUIS12. Hosted by CHR, this biennial conference on service quality improvement brought nearly 300 international scholars to the School of Hotel Administration, in connection with numerous published research reports in all areas of the service industry. CHR also brought industry and academe together in seven roundtables focused on specific industry issues, including brand management, boutique hotels, sustainability, and healthcare and hospitality.
In addition to posting its reports, CHR shares research implications through media partners and a monthly newsletter. In 2011 CHR communications exceeded 933.5 million total hits through 1,723 article placements and over 92,000 subscribers to the CHR's newsletter. In addition to industry participants, CHR's reports are used in classrooms in 118 countries.
In 2012, CHR will observe 20 years of service to the hospitality and service industries. This observance will include the second Cornell Hospitality Research Summit, a high-level conference expressly designed to bring together industry practitioners and academics to focus on converting research in to industry best practices.

The purpose of the Center for Hospitality Research is to enable and conduct research of significance to the global hospitality and related service industries. CHR also works to improve the connections between academe and industry, continuing the School of Hotel Administration's long-standing tradition of service to the hospitality industry. Founded in 1992, CHR remains the industry's foremost creator and distributor of timely research, all of which is posted at no charge for all to use. In addition to its industry advisory board, CHR convenes several industry roundtables each year for the purpose of identifying new issues affecting the hospitality industry.
