Tokyo – JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Shosuke Machida) jointly signed a hotel management agreement on August 15th with Orico Real Estate Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masanobu Shimba) and will open Hotel JAL City Kannai Yokohama in December, 2006. Both parties participated in a ceremony on September 9th praying for safety throughout the hotel’s construction, which is about to start. The hotel will be the 14th Hotel JAL City-brand hotel for JAL Hotels, after the opening of Hotel JAL City Naha in the summer of 2006, and the 66th hotel for the company as a whole.
The construction site for Hotel JAL City Kannai Yokohama is located at 72-2, Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The hotel will have a total of 170 guest rooms, a dining facility and parking on its 10 floors above ground and one basement-level floor, which will occupy a total of 5,958 square meters. The management agreement was based on the needs of both parties. Orico Real Estate expects leverage from JAL Hotels’ brand name, clienteles and hotel management know-how. JAL Hotels wanted to expand its Hotel JAL City brand into the center of Yokohama City. Under the agreement, JAL Hotels will provide the General Manager and overall hotel management services.
The hotel will have a premier location, situated only two minutes on foot from the new Nihon-odori station on the Minato Mirai subway line, just opened in 2004. The area has many important government and corporate offices including Kanagawa Prefecture Hall, Yokohama City Hall and Yokohama Customs Office. Located between Yamashita Park and Chinatown, it also enjoys many shopping and leisure facilities such as Yokohama Stadium, which is the base for a professional baseball team, the Yokohama Baystars. With such an ideal location for both business and pleasure in addition to JAL Hotels’ quality service, Hotel JAL City Kannai Yokohama expects to attract not only business travelers but also tourists, domestic and international, visiting Yokohama.
This year, JAL Hotels has already opened the 121-room Hotel Nikko Hitachi, 242-room Hotel JAL City Nagano, 257-room Hotel Nikko Himeji, and 158-room Palau Royal Resort in June, and 330-room Hotel Nikko Nara in July. The other scheduled openings include the 304-room Hotel JAL City Naha in June, 2006 and 373-room Hotel Nikko Tianjin in July, 2007.
