The 2006 New York Times Travel Show February 24 Tourism Industry Conferences Day of Industry Events to Include: Travel Executive Conference, Tourism Board Conference, Travel Writers Conference and Travel Agents Conference at Javits Center The New York Times announced an expanded schedule of Tourism Industry Conference speakers to appear at the 2006 Travel Show presented by American Express. Recently added speakers include Steven Rudnitsky, Chairman and CEO of Cendant Hotel Group; Carol Hallett, Counselor, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and former President/CEO of Air Transport Association; Stewart Verdery, Jr., Principal at Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti Inc. and former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Theresa Cardinal Brown of the Office of Policy and Planning, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Bill Linehan, VP Marketing and Strategic Development Partnerships at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide; Meryl Levitz, President and CEO of Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation; and Dimitris L. The Feb. 24 Trade Day for industry professionals will be the largest travel trade day of its kind, consisting of four simultaneous conferences featuring education and product seminars as well as access to nearly 500 show exhibitors. TRAVEL AGENT CONFERENCE ($49) - At the Travel Agent Conference, participants will receive expert advice and continuing education credits from tour operator companies and industry organizations including CLIA and the Travel Institute. Topics are geared toward helping travel agents improve their sales success and better meet their clients' needs.
