Three of the 2006 WebAwards were for 'Outstanding Websites' created for the New World Mayfair Shanghai, Intercontinental Hotel Boston and The Dorchester London.
Open World also collected five 'Standard of Excellence' awards for websites, on behalf of Thailand's Dusit Hotels & Resorts, Singapore's Raffles Hotels & Resorts, England’s Cotswold House, Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association and Luxury Travel.
Founded in 1997, WebAwards are the world's premier annual website awards, contested between websites from 96 industries. The best websites are judged according to seven criteria: design, ease of use, copywriting, interactivity, use of technology, innovation and content.
“This year, we focused on maximizing the return on investment for our client websites. The eight awards highlight not only our strength in website design and online marketing for hotels, but also our expertise in generating revenue for them,” said Mark Wong, Executive Vice President of Open World.
“It is extremely rewarding when our clients’ web sites are recognised by their peers in the industry,” Wong continued.
The Web Marketing Association is an organisation of internet marketing, online advertising, PR and website design professionals who share an interest in improving the quality of online advertising, internet marketing, and website promotion.
The annual WebAwards are recognised as a standards-defining competition that "sets industry benchmarks by which all website development can be judged", states the WMA.
"A decade’s worth of judging scores defines what internet marketing professionals should strive for in their website marketing and design efforts."
In 2003 and 2005, Open World collected the ultimate top prizes for best hotel and lodging category in the WebAwards, respectively for Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts and Warwick International Hotels.
