Visitors eager to discover the rich traditions of Aboriginal life will no longer have to sift through bundles of separate brochures to design their adventures - the booklets offer a one-stop planning package.
The Aboriginal experience comes alive as visitors are taken on a page-by-page journey of all that Alberta’s native communities have to offer, ranging from beautifully crafted moccasins and other take-home keepsakes, to teepee camping under a starry prairie sky, to visiting Alberta’s Métis cultural centre. For fast, easy reference, traditional and contemporary experiences are both highlighted in the booklet with special symbols, and to provide even more choice, Métis attractions are also showcased in their own category.
Two other booklets featuring the distinct Aboriginal peoples and places of Northern and Central Alberta are also being released this year and in early 2008.
The Southern booklet features of one-of-a-kind products and vacation adventures from the southern Alberta border to the David Thompson Highway. Visitors can share time with an elder, listening to stories that have endured for generations; or view the mystical Medicine Tree or feel the winter wind whip past as they travel by dog sled in the majestic Rocky Mountains. Each experience can be tailored to individuals or groups, and they all offer the chance for travelers to create rich memories that will last a lifetime.
