AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA | Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals' (HFTP®) Greater New Orleans Chapter is teaming up with Carnival Cruises to provide a one-of-a-kind educational seminar, while raising money for a New Orleans nonprofit. This unique educational seminar aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship Fantasy is April 24-28, leaving from New Orleans and stopping in Cozumel, Mexico. The chapter is offering the educational seminar at no additional cost to the cruise.
The cruise seminar includes three sessions. Professional Speaker Roz Trieber, MS, CHES, delivers a fun filled, interactive session about "low-risk" humor and improvisation techniques that bring innovative solutions to the many challenges facing the hospitality industry. Jo Anna Schillaci, CHTP, F&B controller for Boca West Club Inc, discusses economic changes and auditing standards for the F&B Department in her hands-on session "F&B Business Practices." Finally, Daniel Conti, CHAE, director of finance for Ibis West Palm Partners, provides a fun and interactive session that shows ways to overcome the fear of public speaking.
"This cruise seminar allows for an extraordinary blend of instruction, networking, ocean adventure and social enjoyment," said Robin McLean, CPA, CHAE, HFTP Greater New Orleans Chapter president and CFO for Colonial Golf & Country Club. "Attendees have an opportunity to not only relax, but to earn up to six CPE credits while helping out a worthy cause."
Since Hurricane Katrina, coastline restoration in the New Orleans area has become a great concern. The chapter has joined with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF), a non profit dedicated to restoring and preserving the water quality and habitats of the entire Lake Pontchartrain Basin, to help raise awareness and funding to restore the coastlines. During this special cruise, Carnival Cruises is graciously donating $40 per passenger to the LPBF. For more information about LPBF, visit www.saveourlake.org.
Cruise rates begin at $452 per person for an inside state room and are based on double occupancy. Rates include four nights' accommodations, meals and entertainment on board, port charges and taxes. To reserve a spot on the cruise, contact Yvonne at Travel Central, an American Express representative, at (800) 899-8553 or +1 (504) 834-7000.
