Hotels in New York City Experience Massive Boost in Inbound Travel
Travel Holdings, Inc., reports upsurge in area hotel bookings this and last year in line with the company’s consistent sales growth

ORLANDO, Fla. -- As the most visited U.S. destination by overseas travelers, New York City experienced an increase in overall visitation of more than seven percent last year, while Travel Holdings experienced a fifteen percent growth in room nights attributed solely to bookings made through the company’s subsidiaries. In fact, a majority of Travel Holdings’ net income in 2007 was generated from millions of global bookings to hotels in the area, up an astonishing 88 percent from 2006, with additional growth expected as the company seeks new hotel partners during the coming year.

“Following the year’s trends, we expect to finish 2008 with an 88 percent increase in total sales revenue from New York City,” explains Uri Argov, President and CEO of Travel Holdings, Inc. “Area hotels will experience the very same growth as we continue to broaden their presence to tour operators and online travel agencies worldwide, including our own retail web site, LastMinuteTravel.com.”

Travel Holdings’ fastest-growing hotel partner in 2008 is the Edison Hotel, a three-star Art Deco style property located on Broadway in the core of Manhattan’s theater district. Also set in Midtown, several Hilton Hotels have experienced notable results from bookings through Travel Holdings’ companies, including the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel and Hilton Times Square, both with modern décor and four or more stars. In line with Travel Holdings’ priority to meet the needs of hotel suppliers, the company’s wholesale travel distribution company, Tourico Holidays, Inc., reports a growth in strategic ExclusiveDeal alliances of over 300 percent during the past year. Such alliances allow Tourico Holidays to purchase pre-paid room blocks with rates exclusive to the company’s client base, along with limited blackout dates, in an effort to supply competitive, diverse inventory to travel sellers in the top destinations worldwide. Hoteliers receive guaranteed revenue for their committed room blocks and special recognition of their partnership throughout http://www.TouricoHolidays.com.

“Our goal is to create efficient and effective distribution for suppliers by using our technology to make calculated risk decisions and implement progressive Revenue Management strategies to maximize those investments while satisfying our clients growing demands,” states Dermot Quigley, Regional Director of Product and Revenue Management. “Our ability to grow in what is considered to be a mature and saturated market is representative of our ability to better match excess supply with excess demand with particular focus on shoulder periods and Sunday night business. Our proprietary technology is the most important asset allowing us to develop educated and accurate distribution decisions to benefit our hotel suppliers.”

Travel Holdings’ data is a result of a proprietary technology labeled New Horizons Systems that reports the bookings, sales, and trends of over 2,000 global distribution channels, including the world’s most prominent travel agents, tour operators, and retail websites.
