Halifax, Nova Scotia Welcomes Summer With A Full Schedule Of Festivals And Events
Destination Halifax guides tourists to fun filled Halifax festivals for the entire family this summer

Halifax, NS – From street theatre to music festivals, from folk artists to filmmakers, Halifax, Atlantic Canada’s entertainment capital, has something for everyone this summer.

The line-up of Halifax festivals has already gotten underway, with the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo marking its 29th year with fast-paced, entertaining military and civilian performances, and the 22nd annual Atlantic Jazz Festival kicking off nine days of jazz, world beat, and urban groove on July 11. Another key Halifax event is the 20th annual Halifax Pride Festival from July 20-27, the biggest celebration of Pride in Atlantic Canada

Looking for fun family travel? The Halifax International Busker Festival will feature more than 500 performances of juggling, fire-breathing, acrobatics and music along the Halifax waterfront from August 7-17. “Halifax is an ideal location,” says Gail Pierre-Jérôme, chair of the Atlantic Buskers Festival Society. “The genuine warmth of the people and the breeze off the ocean along the waterfront help to make Buskers a great draw for tourists and talent from around the globe.”

The warm weather doesn’t end in the fall and neither do Halifax events. Halifax holiday-makers can enjoy the Atlantic Film Festival, (September 11-20) and Drum!, a musical tribute to Nova Scotia’s roots in Aboriginal, Acadian, Celtic and Black cultures from (September 12 -October 12). A new addition is the Great Atlantic Blues & Beyond Festival from September 19-21, featuring international blues, arts and culture. The response to the new festival has been overwhelming, says Bruce E. Smith, Executive and Artistic Director for the festival. “People are excited about the great line-up of performances, some of which won’t be seen anywhere else in Canada.”

There is so much more happening - any time is a good time for a Halifax vacation. Halifax hotels are accessible to all the action, and there is local and international cuisine on offer at world-class Halifax restaurants.
