Edmonton, Alberta, Celebrates Their Flourishing Culture and Arts Scene
Canada’s Festival City boasts world-class festivals, theatres, museums and restaurants.

Edmonton, Alberta | The Edmonton theatre and performing arts scene is thriving as venues in the city’s Downtown Arts District are attracting more and more in-demand acts and performers from across Canada and around the world. Art lovers are ecstatic about the construction of the new Art Gallery of Alberta, due to open its doors next year Edmonton, Alberta. With over 30,000 square feet of quality museum space, the Art Gallery is set to become one of the top Edmonton attractions. The gallery will offer education and instruction, as well as hosting international and local art exhibits year round.

Another centre of culture in Edmonton, Alberta is Old Strathcona, a Provincial Historic Area and one of the 10 best shopping and grassroots arts, music and theatre districts in Canada, with a renowned Farmer’s Market, more theatres in a few square blocks than any other place in Edmonton, and a booming Edmonton nightlife. The city also offers many opportunities to time travel through historical Edmonton attractions like Fort Edmonton Park, The Royal Alberta Museum, and the award-winning Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village just east of Edmonton. The Gallery Walk, the first of its kind in Canada, was formed to promote both art and artists of merit, focusing especially on work by Canadian artists. The Gallery Walk is located just west of the downtown core in the 124st area and includes seven member galleries. The 124th street area is a vital business community with many quality restaurants, gift and clothing shops, live theatre venues, galleries, bookstores, and many more specialty businesses in its 12 block area.

Edmonton, Canada’s Festival City, hosts more than 30 annual festivals throughout the year that celebrate music, theatre, arts, sports, film and culture. For example, the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival is held every year in Edmonton, Alberta, attracting over 500,000 visitors and 1,100 performances. It’s the largest fringe festival on the continent. One of the Top 10 Things to Do in Edmonton is always Capital Ex, Edmonton’s oldest summer festival featuring a wide array of entertainment activities.
