Historic Cary House Hotel Joins Lexington Brand
Old West Hotel Served as Stomping Grounds for Buffalo Bill and Other Americana Legends

CLEVELAND, Ohio | The Historic Cary House Hotel, located in the heart of California’s gold country, will soon fly a Lexington flag. The hotel is well-known to history buffs as the place where nearly 90 million dollars in gold bullion passed through from the Mother Lode and the Nevada Comstock. According to American folklore, Buffalo Bill was a frequent guest of the Cary House Hotel and Horace Greely once gave a campaign speech from the hotel’s beautiful wrought iron balcony.

The quaint 40-suite hotel, known as the “jewel of Placerville (CA)”, was built during the heydays of the gold rush in 1857. According to a recent Travel Channel special, this unique and charming hotel is widely thought to be home to many Gold Rush ghosts – friendly ones, that is. They would definitely feel right at home and comfortable in the three-storied building where authentic antique furnishings adorn the majestic lobby keeping true to the historic integrity of the landmark property.

The quaint hotel offers guests an elegant retreat to unwind in the grandeurs of the of old west with the comforts of modern amenities. A secluded courtyard is available for guests to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Meeting planners will appreciate the Milton Room, which accommodates functions for up to 60 people in a setting found nowhere else in the region. Etched glass windows, wood parquet dance floor and lovely oak bar are just some of its special features.

“This property has a foothold in American history and keeping the historical integrity of this property was of utmost importance to us when selecting a brand to associate ourselves with,” said Vijay Patel, managing member of the Historic Cary House Hotel. “The Lexington Collection allowed us the opportunity to preserve this gem of Americana while providing us with all the comprehensive resources of an international brand. It was an obvious and leading choice for us to become a Lexington member.”

“We are thrilled Mr. Patel put his trust and business with The Lexington Collection above all other hotel franchises,” said Steve Belmonte, President, CEO & Partner of Vantage Hospitality’s Lexington Hotels. “This amazing and revered property embodies the best in lodging amenities and services as well as its place in Americana.”
