Halifax, Nova Scotia – The holidays in Nova Scotia are a magical time, and there’s a Nova Scotia event planned for every type of reveler this season. From the family-friendly fun of the Father Christmas Festival to shopping galore at craft markets, the following events are sure to spark holiday spirit.
For shoppers ‘making their list and checking it twice’, Christmas craft fairs and holiday markets are great places to shop in Nova Scotia. In Middle Musquodoboit from December 5 - 7, the Christmas Festival of Trees & Crafts presents high quality crafts from over 60 Maritime artisans. Great ideas for theme-decorated Christmas trees will also be on display. A scenic drive along the Bay of Fundy Shore will lead to holiday decorations and accessories at the Shaw Country Market’s Annual Christmas Show. It’s open right up until Christmas Eve.
Children will be delighted to catch an early glimpse of Santa in towns and villages throughout Nova Scotia. For a unique spin on the Santa Claus visit, Mahone Bay will be decorated with figures of the Father Christmas Festival from November 29 – December 7. This one-of-a-kind Nova Scotia event fills the town with jolly faces for kids’ activities and horse-drawn carriage rides. Or for Christmas entertainment, take them to Norm Foster’s play, Dear Santa, at the Eastern Front Theatre from December 11-28 in Dartmouth.
From Christmas concerts and holiday theatre, to boutique gift shops and winter fun activities, Wolfville: A Christmas Tradition is a holiday destination for all near the Bay of Fundy. The spirited lineup of Nova Scotia holiday events includes traditional family favourites, plus unique ones like the Christmas Bird Count and the 4km Resolution Run/Walk. Events are underway and run through January 1, 2009.
Don’t forget that December marks the official start of Nova Scotia lobster season, too. Whether entertaining friends and family at home or dining out, Nova Scotia cuisine is a holiday event in itself!
