HVS Announces the 2nd SAHIC | South American Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference

HVS Buenos Aires has announced that the city of Rio de Janeiro will host the 2nd SAHIC – South American Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference, which will take place on 14 – 15 September, 2009 at the Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Hotel, Copacabana, Brazil.

Key players from the Hotel & Tourism Business World will be together once again under the premise “Rethinking, Recreating, and Reinventing the Hospitality Industry.” It will be a great chance to exchange information related to investment opportunities in the region.

Luiz Eduardo Barreto, Minister of Tourism of Brazil, expressed that “Brazil is facing a great challenge with the organization of the next World Cup 2014 and is firmly willing to organize the Olympic Games of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, too. There is no doubt that the needs and opportunities for hospitality investment that these two events will serve as additional appeal for the conference attendees.”

Arturo García Rosa, President of SAHIC, commented that “in a world thrown into confusion by a crisis that has paralyzed investments in the main markets of the world, South America happens to have a different reality where investment opportunities arise from the many different areas of its huge geography.” Minister Barreto and Arturo García Rosa agreed on the importance of SAHIC rotating its location throughout the different countries of the region each year in order to offer numerous opportunities for investors from all over the globe.

This second SAHIC will continue the energy started by the 1st SAHIC, which was held last year in Buenos Aires, where 325 attendees from 21 countries exchanged knowledge, experiences and business opportunities in the region.

SAHIC organizers anticipate nearly 500 registrants to attend the Conference this September. This Conference, like the first, will offer ample networking opportunities and present a number of “Distinctions” that will award Projects, Events, Institutions, Companies and People who have contributed to the development of the Hotel & Tourism Industry in South America.
