AH&LEF Arthur J. Packard Memorial Scholarship Awarded To Three Students
Noteworthy as Foundation’s Most Prestigious Scholarship  The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) ), the not-for-profit affiliate of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, recently awarded three scholarships via its Arthur J. Packard Memorial Scholarship Program, the Foundation’s oldest scholarship award.
Christine Meyer, a junior at the University of New Hampshire, is the first place winner and receives $5,000. Jessica Testa, a senior at Pennsylvania State University, receives $3,000 as second-place winner. Third-place goes to John Keeley, a senior at Johnson & Wales University-Providence. In addition, the recipients receive commemorative plaques.
The Arthur J. Packard Memorial Scholarship Program awards three students at AH&LEF-affiliated four-year educational institutions a total of $10,000. Each school nominates only one student to compete. This national scholarship competition began in 1974 to honor to honor third-generation hotelier Packard’s numerous accomplishments in the lodging industry.
“AH&LEF-affiliated schools nominate their best students based on academic performance, hospitality work experience, extracurricular involvement, financial need, and career goals, so meeting the standards of this competition illustrates the high caliber of students pursuing a career to become hoteliers, “ said Joori Jeon, CPA, CAE, AH&LEF president/COO.
