Magnuson Hotels expands global presence to United Kingdom, Bahamas, and Puerto Rico

Magnuson Hotels, the world’s largest independent hotel group, announced today the expansion of its low-cost global reservation services to the United Kingdom, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.

Recent successful hotel additions in Rosebank, Scotland; Freeport, The Bahamas and San Juan, Puerto Rico are the first of Magnuson Hotels’ 2010 expansion outside its current North American base.

The company expects during 2010 to double its size in North America to over 2000 hotels, while opening an international headquarters in London.

“Global economic conditions of rising unemployment, increased operating costs, higher franchise/marketing fees and falling travel demand are universal struggles,” stated Magnuson Hotels CEO Thomas R. Magnuson. “Magnuson Hotels’ plans continue to be focused on providing the lowest cost access to all global reservation systems so hotel owners everywhere can succeed despite any economic challenge.”

Despite the largest occupancy crash in U.S. history, low-cost franchise alternative Magnuson Hotels continues to break growth records as the fastest growing hotel chain in history. In contrast to traditional franchise hotel chains that are supported by a percentage of gross sales earned by individual hotel owners, Magnuson Hotels differentiates itself with a lower cost, performance-based structure for the independent hotel owner, who in turn passes along the savings to hotel guests.

Magnuson Hotels has recorded a 36% year-to-date increase in reservation revenue for more than 1,000 affiliates in the face of a 26-year high U.S. unemployment rate and record increased room inventory due to the largest hotel construction pipeline in history.
