Niagara Falls, Ontario Farm To Table Movement Grows in Niagara Falls Restaurants, Markets & More

NIAGARA FALLS, ON -- The Niagara food and wine scene is vibrant and active as Niagara Falls restaurants team up with local wineries to create unforgettable culinary experiences in Niagara Falls, Ontario. In addition to featuring prominently on the Niagara Culinary Trail with a growing number of farm to table restaurants, Niagara Falls also serves as a gateway to a culinary Niagara vacation -- just a short drive from Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries and the popular agri-tourism of the Niagara Peninsula.

Among restaurants inspired by the growers and producers of Niagara is AG Inspired Cuisine at the Sterling Inn & Spa as well as Boulevard Bistro in the Fallsview Entertainment District. In addition to the focus on local foods, both restaurants feature award-winning wine from nearby Niagara wineries Visitors will find that Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries feature prominently on most menus at Niagara Falls restaurants.

Niagara Falls' downtown Queen Street has a fresh new face with retailers such as Niagara Markets, an artisan food market, and Taps Brewing Company crafting micro beers on site along with a local food experience at Taps on Queen Brewhouse & Grill. Must-visit Niagara Falls attractions for foodies are the Niagara Falls Farmers Market manned by long time farmers and Creveller Cakes, boasting delicate pastries using dairy, eggs and fruit from the region.

Keeping in line with the focus on locally inspired dining, the new Niagara Convention Civic Centre opening in April 2011 is working with local chef Anna Olson to create a sustainable menu, a testament to the commitment of the hospitality industry to support locally grown products.

For those planning culinary getaways, several Niagara Falls hotels offer food and wine focused vacation packages. The Courtyard by Marriott offers a two-night wine escape package as does the Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa, both featuring Niagara wine tours.
