Sol Meliá Inaugurates Its First 'Flintstones' Hotel: The Sol Milanos Pingüinos
The inauguration of the theme areas was attended by the President of the local government and the EVP of the Sol Meliá European Division, Andrés Encinas

Sol Meliá have announced the inauguratioln of its first hotel theme areas, fruit of the agreement reached with Warner Bros. to create hotel facilities featuring characters from the Flintstones cartoons in several Sol Hotels in Spain. The Sol Milanos-Pingüinos Hotel, located alongside the longest beach on the island of Menorca in the Mediterranean, has become the first Sol Flinstones hotel to debut with the new facilities.

The inauguration was attended by the President of the Menorca Island Council, Joana Barceló, and the Executive Vice President of the Sol Meliá European Division, Andrés Encinas, as well as leading figures from the island's tourism industry.

The agreement between Sol Meliá and Warner Bros. aims to create a new hotel concept adapted to the needs of traveling families. Menorca is one of the most popular destinations in the whole of Spain for family travel, and for that reason has been chosen as the first location of the Sol Flintstone hotels.

The Sol Milanos Pingüinos: the first Sol Flintstone hotel

The Sol Milanos Pingüinos has become the first hotel to open theme areas. The hotel lobby and front desk area include features specially designed so that kids get to meet the Flintstones on arrival. They can then go on to find that their beds have Pebbles blankets and that the swimming pool, children's clubs and even bars and restaurants have all been decorated in Fklintstones' style. The Sol Milanos Pingüinos has also opened a theme shop where guests can purchase all of the products on offer from Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

On 26th. June, the theme areas at a second hotel will be inaugurated: the Sol Mirlos Tordos (Majorca). Located in Palma Nova Bay on the island of Majorca, the hotel will also be opening up new facilities featuring the world's favorite prehistoric family.

In 2004 the project will be extended to the Sol Antillas Barbados (Majorca), the Sol Falcó (Menorca) and the Sol Príncipe Principito (Costa del Sol), all in Spain.
