The new hotel is located just a two minute walk from the terminal of the UK’s fastest growing airport.
Taking pride of place in the atrium is the ‘Wine Tower’, standing at over 13m tall and home to 4000 bottles of wine. A high-speed computer controlled winch system transports ‘wine angels’ up and down the tower to retrieve chosen bottles of wine before delivering them safely to the tables, providing a constantly moving backdrop to the light and airy space. Central to the restaurant is the striking hotel bar.
Setting new standards in terms of design, restaurants and meeting facilities, the hotel features 500 rooms with wireless LAN access throughout, 1,300 m of meeting space, three individually designed restaurants, a state-of-the-art health club, bar and Europe’s only ‘Wine Tower’.
The 500 bedrooms are designed in three styles - Chilli, Ocean and Urban - providing a choice of accommodation to suit travellers’ preferences. Individual touches are introduced to each of the rooms creating a spacial atmosphere distinctly different from traditional airport hotels.
Three restaurants provide a wide choice of food from stone-baked pizza in Filini’s, the Italian restaurant, to oysters and authentic juicy burgers in the New York Bar and Grill, to traditional tapas in TaPaell’Ya, the Spanish restaurant.
Each of the 26 meeting rooms boast state-of-the-art technology including wireless LAN and video conferencing. All make the most of the natural light with floor to ceiling windows including the largest, the Essex Room, that can accommodate a conference of up to 300 people.
