AUSTIN, TEXAS; HFTP's GUESTROOM 2010 opened to a large crowd last week, and continued be filled to its maximum capacity throughout its three days on display at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 19-22. The model hotel room and pavilion featured the latest and near-future technologies, ranging from technology with pizzazz, like artwork that matches the guest's mood; to the practical, like a self-cleaning shower; to the high-tech, like a biometric self-service check-in.

"GUESTROOM 2010 proved to be a great attraction at HITEC, providing a thought-provoking demonstration of how these multiple technologies, usually seen separately, can be integrated to give guests a comfortable and entertaining experience," said Jules Sieburgh, CHTP, the GUESTROOM 2010 chief technology integrator and consultant. "The popularity was beyond our expectations, and we are now considering taking the display on the road."

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), the producers of HITEC and GUESTROOM 2010, began soliciting applications globally in early January 2006. Once collected, a sub-committee of the HITEC 2006 Advisory Council considered the completed applications, as well as research gathered from a variety of industry and non-industry sources. From this point a guestroom footprint was developed and input was solicited from a community of road warriors. The process generated a final list of "must have" technologies that were then invited to participate.

"Being a part of GUESTROOM 2010 was an inspiring experience for us," said Rob Wilson, creative director of LUX ART & DESIGN, which had its LUX-HDA artwork on display. "There was excellent rapport among the exhibitors, and a real spirit of cooperation. With GUESTROOM 2010, HFTP achieved not only a fascinating model for future guestrooms, but also fostered a refreshing synergy, and a brilliant demonstration of how we can all benefit from an open exchange of ideas."

"GUESTROOM 2010 provided the perfect setting for the Ammique bed's first outing in the USA," said Marlene Greenhalgh, managing director of Ammique Ltd. "The enthusiasm and vision of the organizers, the press and media involvement and the quality of the attendees made the whole experience for us very enjoyable and a great success securing many good business opportunities worldwide."
