USA Technologies Chosen by Two Leading Philadelphia Hotels to Provide e-Business Services to Support Republican Party Convention
Works Round-The-Clock to Install Business Express(R) Business Centers
2 August 2000

WAYNE, Pa. -- Two major "downtown" Philadelphia hotels have called on USA Technologies [OTCBB: USTT] , a local Pennsylvania high tech company, to provide the very latest e-Business services to help support the global Media contingent covering the Republican Party Convention in Philadelphia this week.

Engineers and technicians from USA Technologies worked round the clock for three days to install fully equipped Business Express(R) business centers in each hotel so that reporters covering the convention could have immediate and continuous Internet access to their offices throughout North America and the world.

The hotels that selected USA Technologies' e-Business services are the Wyndham Franklin Plaza and the Holiday Inn Independence Mall, both chosen by the Philadelphia Convention Visitors Bureau and the Republican Party Convention organizers to accommodate the media covering the event.

In just a few short years, USA Technologies has established itself as a market leader in providing automated business centers for the traveling public. Its flagship product, Business Express, is a business center fully equipped with everything a traveling professional needs to be connected to the Internet and conduct e-Business 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. Everything is provided, from the very latest IBM desktop workstations and Laptop PCs, to state of the art printers, copiers and facsimile machines. IBM also supports the business centers with workstation installation, maintenance and business recovery services, as well as customer call center support to ensure the Business Express offices are operational 24x7. Business Express/MBE Business Express is already located in more than 400 US hotels, including some of the biggest hotel chains in the Nation.

Stephen P. Herbert, President and COO of USA Technologies, said they had little notice, but his company was well up to the challenge of meeting the deadline. "We installed two $20,000 Business Express centers inside three days, where normally it could take considerably longer," he said. "The convention had attracted more Media representatives than had been expected. Both hotels also realized the Media would require the fastest, most efficient and effective e-Business support to be able to stay in contact with their offices, whether in the US or overseas, as well as ready access to copiers, printers and facsimile machines. We were delighted when they turned to us, a local company. We realized the urgency and swung key resources into the project, proving to ourselves and the industry that we are equipped and prepared for any eventuality, no matter how large and no matter what the deadline," he said. Mr. Herbert said USA Technologies' was pleased to do its part in helping hoteliers and the City of Philadelphia meet the needs of the Republican Party and the world Media.

At the heart of the Business Express business center is USA Technologies' patented TransAct(R), a networked solution that allows for low-value, secure credit card transactions to occur in an unattended setting. With the swipe of a major credit card, users "unlock" and gain access to everything they need in a fully equipped office. Business Express is essentially a self-service center that provides users with a PC computer filled with office productivity software and/or laptop connection, with access to the Internet, a laser printer that may be conveniently connected to a user's own laptop computer, a photocopying machine, and a facsimile machine. At the end of each transaction, users receive a printed receipt of their transaction.

Mr. Herbert said USA Technologies would later this year roll out e-Port, its next generation payment technology and network service that would succeed TransAct. e-Port is an e-commerce solution that in addition to the services provided by TransAct, allows consumers to conduct simple, secure and direct Internet transactions, whether attached to office equipment or retail point of sale terminals, such as vending machines, gas pumps, and at supermarkets and convenience stores, again with the swipe of a credit card. e-Port also a liquid display touch screen that allows advertisers to promote their products and services, and operate electronic store fronts.

"e-Port is a network-based solution that can be easily attached to a variety of vending machines or retail point-of-sale terminals. It could allow consumers throughout the world the ability to tap into the Internet and conduct e-commerce while on the go -- without the need for a PC, cell phone, or personal digital assistant," Mr. Herbert said.
