Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites Rated #1 In Annual Business Travel News Hotel Survey

WASHINGTON -- [NYSE: MAR] The readers of Business Travel News ranked Residence Inn by Marriott and TownePlace Suites by Marriott the ##1 hotel brands in the extended-stay category, according to the publication's annual hotel survey.

Residence Inn also received the highest score for "quality of business center," "quality of business amenities," "physical appearance," and "ease in arranging individual travel." TownePlace Suites, Marriott's mid-priced extended-stay brand, received the top score for "physical appearance" and "in- room amenities."

The annual Business Travel News Top U.S. Hotel Survey reflects the opinions of corporate travel planners based on nine criteria ranging from quality of amenities, appearance and value to ease in arranging travel. Business Travel News received 719 reader responses and announced the survey results in the Feb. 26, 2001 issue.

Other Marriott brands outscored the competition in specific categories:

  • Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites (upscale) Quality of business center, quality of business amenities and ease in arranging group travel
  • Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites (upscale) Ease in arranging individual travel
  • Courtyard by Marriott (mid-price with food and beverage) Quality of business center
  • Fairfield Inn by Marriott (mid-price without food and beverage) Ease in arranging group travel
