SANTA BARBARA, Calif. / June 24, 2001--Opryland Hotels has chosen Revelation, the point-of-sale (POS) solution from InfoGenesis, for its two new Opryland properties in Florida and Texas. The resorts are scheduled to open in 2002 and 2003, respectively.
"As we planned the opening of a series of new convention properties across the United States, we resolved to evaluate all of our existing technology partnerships," said Sondra Fitzwater, Senior Development Manager for Opryland Hotels. "While we have always valued our vendor partnerships, every incumbent vendor went through an RFP process designed to make sure we went forward with the best value proposition. InfoGenesis was our easiest decision. Their product is far ahead of the competition in terms of architecture, functionality, and reliability."
The 1,400-room Opryland Hotel Florida draws its design from Florida icons such as St. Augustine, Key West and the Everglades. Its centerpiece is a 4.5-acre, glass-roofed atrium garden. The Lone Star State is the architectural theme of the 1,500-room Opryland Hotel Texas, located in Grapevine, Texas. Currently under construction, the hotel will include 400,000 square feet of pre-function meeting and exhibition space.
Opryland Hotels needed a single vendor solution because of the complex integration needs of their operation and their desire for guests to have full room charging and other special privileges anywhere, at each resort.
In addition to feature and function, an important selling point for Opryland was the ease of integration to other hotel systems. "We really liked InfoGenesis' XML strategy for system interfaces," said Rick Charles, Vice President of Development at Opryland Hotels. "This is another example of InfoGenesis eclipsing its competition by being the first POS vendor to deliver an XML gateway to their POS product. We are excited about deploying handhelds, in-room ordering and kiosk ordering options for our guests using their XML gateway."
The XML gateway is a new, two-way interface available today with Revelation using state-of-the-art "eXtensible" Markup Language, or XML technology, to provide seamless integration between POS software and other applications. XML is used to define data types and map fields between systems to share data consistently and easily. The XML gateway permits handhelds, television ordering, desktop ordering, inventory, property management systems (PMS systems) and other applications common to hospitality environments to be easily linked to the award-winning Revelation POS solution.
