SAN FRANCISCO / Oct. 15, 2001-- Talaris Corporation today announced a strategic relationship with GetThere, a Sabre company, the leading provider of Internet-based business-to-business travel procurement systems. Under the agreement, GetThere will integrate the Talaris Web services platform with its online corporate travel reservation system and resell the combined solution to the enterprise market.

Mobile professionals will now be able to use a single, comprehensive Web-based system for business and personal service requirements including: scheduling conference calls, reserving meeting facilities, arranging for flights, hotels, and car rentals, as well as booking restaurant reservations, shipping packages and arranging courier services. Through the integrated product, corporate employees can reserve these business services over the Web using their computers, mobile phones or personal digital assistants. GetThere will sell the integrated service to new corporate customers and to GetThere's existing installed base of more than 800 major corporations.

"Generating savings of 20 percent on travel costs, online corporate travel reservation systems have become one of the most effective procurement applications in corporations. The logical extension is to provide mobile professionals the ability to access and procure other business services through a variety of devices, anytime and anywhere," said Jeff Palmer, chief operating officer at GetThere. "The combined GetThere/Talaris offering enables enterprises to better manage and control a broad spectrum of services, satisfying a growing need within our customer base and target market."

Based on corporate policies and end-user preferences, Talaris' solution automatically identifies service providers, procures the requested service and synchronizes with the mobile professional's calendar and contact manager. It invites other participants, and provides notification messages via phone, fax, e-mail or wireless device when tasks are completed and the services are scheduled and confirmed. Mobile professionals will now be able to coordinate all components of their business lives and better manage the scheduling and re-scheduling of necessary services, using the integrated GetThere and Talaris solution.

"Web-based procurement tools like GetThere provide the means to expand the use of application services. Also, Web services can automatically augment existing business services in a managed way for enterprise end users," said Dana Gardner, research director for Internet infrastructure at Aberdeen Group, Inc. in Boston. "Talaris has entered the next wave of Internet commerce by providing the means for GetThere to interact with business users through Web services, and for the end users to manage and procure an extensive list of services through the interface and device of their choice."

The integrated GetThere and Talaris platform provides enterprises with a framework to define and manage corporate rules and contracts, resulting in decreased direct costs through cost containment and increased revenues through improved workforce productivity. The Talaris network currently exceeds 120,000 providers of business services, ensuring that Talaris can fulfill service requests based on a wide variety of user preferences and parameters, regardless of the service provider's level of technical sophistication.

In addition to the strategic relationship, GetThere will use the Talaris application to manage costs and increase productivity within its own sales force. This deployment will provide GetThere sales teams with additional support to effectively manage necessary business and personal services and will enable them to devote more time to their core responsibilities of working with new and existing customers to generate revenue.

"Talaris has delivered on the vision of the next-generation Internet by creating the industry's first application that integrates disparate services, devices, applications, content and business processes into a cohesive, user-centric environment," said Patrick W. Grady, founder and CEO of Talaris. "Through our partnership with GetThere, enterprises can now fully realize the unprecedented expense management and productivity gains Talaris brings to the market."
