The scholarship announcement comes at a time when the hospitality industry is rebounding following a difficult year. "We're sure the announcement of new scholarship opportunities will be welcome news to students interested in this dynamic profession," said Jan Johnsen-Brocker, assistant dean of admissions and student services for the Daniels College of Business.

The scholarships are offered through the James Garrigues and Janice Waggener McGrew Scholarship Fund. The fund is the result of generous contributions by Janice Waggener McGrew, an alumnus of the University of Denver. Mrs. McGrew was a dedicated supporter of the University until her death in 1996.

"The McGrew Scholarship Fund provides financial support and wonderful opportunities for needy and deserving students," said Peter Rainsford, director of the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.

Scholarships will be awarded based on community leadership and service. Academic merit and financial need may also be considered during the selection process. Only students who are U.S. citizens by birth are eligible for selection.
