Mark Symonds Joins RTKL Hospitality Sector; Project Manager to Focus on Asia/Pacific Clients
LOS ANGELES, RTKL, a leading international design firm, is pleased to announce that Torsten Mark Symonds has joined its hospitality sector as an associate vice president. A Welsh-born, degreed architect, Symonds brings over 15 years of hospitality industry experience to the role, primarily from the owner/operator side. Prior to coming to RTKL, he worked in technical services for such major international hotel chains as Hyatt Hotels and Resorts,...
"Mark's significant background in the Asia/Pacific marketplace is crucial as RTKL further expands our presence in that region and looks to become a leader in the design of hotels and resorts throughout Asia and the Pacific," said Vice President Todd C. Lundgren AIA, NCARB, director of RTKL's hospitality sector.
Symonds' insight into the owner/operator perspective of the hotel and resort industry enables RTKL to extend its hospitality design services into pre-development and planning areas, assisting clients with analyzing hotel sites, developing programs in advance of operator selections, drafting comprehensive project budgets (including FF&E, OS&E, and other non- construction items), and guiding preliminary hotel planning efforts.
His architectural training, comprehensive project management experience, and international hotel experience will be equally valuable to his new role as overall client and project manager for urban and resort hotel projects in Asia. Based in Los Angeles, Symonds will work closely with the Tokyo and Shanghai offices of RTKL.
