SAN ANTONIO | Hyatt Regency San Antonio kicked off the final phase of a $16.6 million renovation campaign with a "Wreck the Room" demolition party. Local dignitaries, hotel guests and customers donned safety goggles and joined Hyatt Regency San Antonio General Manager Murray Burnett with sledgehammers in hand to begin the demolition of one of the hotel's guestrooms. All of the hotel's 632 guestrooms and suites along with the guestroom corridors will be completely refurbished from top to bottom during the this final phase of renovation. The first phase of the hotel's renovation program was completed in January and included the hotel's lobby area, technology upgrades and new guestroom beds.

This final phase of Hyatt Regency San Antonio's renovation program will consist of a complete makeover of the hotel's 632 guestrooms and baths combining a balance of both comfort and function with decor that is sophisticated yet inviting. From floor to ceiling, the guestrooms will be enhanced with new carpet, wall coverings and furniture all in fabrics and finishes that capture the warm colors of Texas. Patterns and textures such as western-tooled leather will be mixed with soft, luxurious cottons and linens creating an interesting blend. Special emphasis will be placed on the bedding with the addition of a down blanket, textured top sheet and oversized pillows to compliment the fluffy mattresses. A colorful throw at the foot of the bed will give the bedding ensemble a thoroughly residential feel. Each room will also be furnished with an oversized desk with built in electrical outlets allowing for quick and easy connectivity. A comfortable leather chair and ottoman with adjacent side table and reading lamp will provide a place for guests to relax in absolute comfort.
The guestroom baths will be completely updated to compliment the guestroom. A free standing mahogany vanity with imported granite top will provide ample storage for towels and amenities. An elegantly framed mirror and decorative light fixture will offer enhanced lighting and visibility. Imported ceramic tile flooring and new wall coverings will complete the bathroom design. Hyatt Regency San Antonio's renovation program is scheduled for completion in September.
"We've had a very positive response from our guests to the first phase of our renovation program, especially the new bed product," said Murray Burnett, general manager for Hyatt Regency San Antonio. "We are excited about this final phase and having our guests experience our newly designed guestrooms soon."
In the first phase of the hotel's renovation program, Hyatt Regency San Antonio's distinctive lobby was updated with new furniture, wall coverings, ceiling tile, Texas-style chandeliers, and artwork depicting San Antonio. A customer-friendly concierge desk was created to better serve guest's needs, while wireless Internet was installed so guests can stay connected. New beds featuring Sealy Posturepedic 700 Series Plush and Plush Pillow Top mattresses, and box springs were installed in all of the hotel's guestrooms and suites providing the utmost in sleeping comfort.
