Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Announces Appointment Of New General Manager For Hong Kong Flagship

HONG KONG | Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is delighted to announce the appointment of experienced and well-known hotelier, Mr Peter French, as the new general manager for their flagship, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, effective July 2004.

Mr French brings with him more than 30 years experience to Mandarin Oriental, 11 years of which were spent with the Group in Hong Kong as general manager at both Mandarin Oriental and The Excelsior. During his tenure at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong from 1982 - 1986, the hotel consistently received both regional and international recognition for outstanding customer service.

Mr French rejoins Mandarin Oriental from his previous post as Executive Vice President & Managing Director of The Carlyle Hotel, New York. He was also General Manager of the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Mr French graduated as a Member of the Hotel & Catering International Management Association from Birmingham University in England. He is delighted to be returning to Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, stating, “It is wonderful to return to one of the greatest hotels in the world. I am very much looking forward to reacquainting myself, with guests and colleagues, both old and new. I am committed to ensuring that Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong remains Hong Kong’s premier address for both the local and international community”.
