In honor of its 75th anniversary in 2003, The Peninsula Hong Kong introduced a charity program called the “Trees of Hope.” Guests and visitors to the hotel purchased ornaments to hang on the hotel’s majestic holiday trees, with the proceeds going directly to charity. This year, The Peninsula Hotels will implement the “Trees of Hope” campaign at all seven properties worldwide to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation offices around the world.

During the holiday season, The Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Beijing, Beverly Hills, Chicago and New York will prominently display majestic evergreen trees in their lobby. Guests will be invited to purchase an ornament to hang on the tree to benefit the charity. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with the stipulation that funds go directly to their mission – granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

It is the goal of each Peninsula Hotel to decorate each tree with a bounty of ornaments representing the true spirit of holiday giving. “The Peninsula Hotels in Asia and the U.S. are proud to join together in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Peter Borer, COO of The Peninsula Hotels. “We wanted to begin a tradition of charitable giving at our hotels that would involve our staff, guests and visitors. The Trees of Hope campaign was designed to add beauty to the hotels both physically and spiritually, and to enrich the lives of the children touched by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”

“We are honored to be the recipient of The Peninsula Hotels’ holiday Trees of Hope charity campaign,” said Victoria Ames, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation International. “The generosity of each hotel’s guests and staff will be instrumental in making the dreams of the children around the world come true.”
