Brussels -- For the second consecutive year, Conrad Hotels received the ultimate award of “World’s Leading Luxury Hotel Brand” at the World Travel Awards ceremony, which took place in Turks and Caicos in September. The prestigious trophy was presented to brand representative, Robert Thrailkill, General Manager of the Conrad Miami during the dinner ceremony.

This distinction came after six other awards were presented to some of the brand’s hotels: the Conrad Istanbul once again received the titles of “Europe’s Leading Business Hotel”, and “Leading Business Hotel in Turkey”, already awarded in 2005. The Conrad Bangkok was named “Thailand’s Leading Hotel” and for the second consecutive year, the Conrad Brussels was awarded “Belgium’s Leading Hotel”. The Conrad Miami received the trophy of “Florida’s Leading Hotel” whilst for South America, the Conrad Punta del Este Resort & Casino in Uruguay, featured like in 2005 as “South America’s Leading Casino Resort”.

Tens of thousands of travel professionals had cast their votes online to determine the winners in each category. The 2006 World Travel Awards were supported by many media organisations, including BBC Worldwide and international tourism television channels.
