London | The two properties are existing hotels located in central Berlin and in Potsdam, a historic cultural town just 20 minutes from the city.
art’otel berlin kudamm, formerly the Sorat art’otel berlin, is located on Kurfürstendamm in the centre of Berlin, home to a variety of restaurants, bars, shops and leisure facilities. The hotel features 133 guestrooms, breakfast room with terrace, art bar and lounge, 2 meeting rooms plus private parking and offers WI-FI throughout.
Although extensive refurbishment of the hotel is due for completion in time for ITB Berlin in March 2007, artworks and sculptures from the hotel’s signature artist, Wolf Vostell will continue to adorn the walls and public spaces. Interior designer Hon. Prof. Johanne Nalbach, once again for Park Plaza, has been commissioned to oversee the re-vamp.
art’otel potsdam is located on the beautiful Havel River, close to the Sanssoucis Castle and several attractions of historical interest. Offering 115 guestrooms and 8 suites, Aqua restaurant, bar and terrace plus fitness centre with sauna, steambath, whirlpool, solarium, gymnasium and beauty lounge – the hotel is ideal for leisure guests seeking a peaceful retreat. Also boasting 3 meeting rooms and WI-FI internet access, art’otel potsdam attracts a healthy mix of business travellers and small corporate groups. Artworks in this hotel are by local artist Katharina Sieverding.

This expansion solidifies the partnership between the owner of the art’otel concept, Mr Dirk Gädeke and Park Plaza Hotels Europe, now the exclusive management company for the brand. Mr Gädeke comments:
“I am passionate about my hotels: their location, the quirky design and interior artworks make the art’otel concept unique and attractive to art focused travellers - but design and visual identity is only part of our success. For some years now, Park Plaza Hotels Europe have proved a successful operator and management company for the art’otels in Budapest, Dresden and Berlin and this extended partnership is testament to their growing success and commitment to solid expansion. I enjoy an excellent relationship with Park Plaza Hotels Europe and look forward to being part of their major expansion plans for the art’otel brand.
Senior Vice President and Development for Park Plaza Hotels Europe, Mr Micha Polak, comments: “Our development strategy is tenacious, with art’otel being integral in our plans. As a design-led, luxury yet surprisingly affordable choice, art’otel will serve to meet the needs of a growing demand for destination lifestyle hotels in key European cities. This news comes shortly after our announcement of a new art’otel in Bucharest next year, the conversion of Park Plaza Vondel Amsterdam to an art’otel next year and I can now confirm we are also in latter-stage negotiations for hotels in Prague, London, Vienna, Dusseldorf and Cologne.”
