Courtyard by Marriott has opened its first hotel in Scandinavia, the Courtyard Stockholm Kungsholmen under a franchise agreement with Scandinavian Hospitality Group (SHG). With 278 guest rooms and more than 1,000 square meters of meeting space, the hotel is the largest Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Europe.

Located in Sweden’s stylish capital city, the hotel is located in the Kungsholmen neighborhood of Stockholm, within walking distance of the city centre and next door to one of the city's main metro stations.

Opening rates begin from 990 SEK (USD $132) per night. Marriott Rewards members will receive a special 20% off Stay for Breakfast rate for stays from April through June.

The Courtyard by Marriott brand features hotels with a refreshing environment that helps guests stay connected, productive and balanced. Intuitive services and design accommodate guests’ desire for choice and control and allow them to use the public space and guest rooms to meet all of their needs while on the road. With more than 860 locations in 30 countries, Courtyard is Marriott’s largest brand; 200 additional Courtyard by Marriott hotels will open around the world over the next three years.

“Courtyard is expanding internationally at a rapid pace and we’re thrilled to introduce this innovative brand to Scandinavia,” said Janis Milham, vice president and global brand manager, Courtyard by Marriott. “With the opening of the Courtyard Stockholm Kungsholmen, Courtyard now has a presence in 30 countries around the world and we look forward to continuing to serve our guests as we enter many new regions in the future.”

The public space at the Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen evokes a contemporary feel and gives guests the space and functionality to both work and socialize with flexible seating options. For meetings and events, the hotel offers 12 meeting rooms with a total of 1,000 square meters of meeting space.

The 278 guest rooms of the Courtyard Stockholm Kungsholmen are some of the largest in the city with 26 square meters of space for guests to spread out. Stylish and comfortable, amenities include complimentary high-speed internet access, large well-lit work desks, ergonomic chairs and coffee makers. For recreation, the hotel offers guests access to an on-site fitness center.

The Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen features Bjork Bar & Grill, an urban, loft-style restaurant for dining and lounging. Taking its name for the Swedish word for “birch tree,” renowned designer Henry Chebaane designed the restaurant to represent a virtual forest filled with the colors and textures of the local trees, moss, lichen, granite and berries. Bjork Bar & Grill features both dishes and cocktails made with regional Swedish produce, including sparkling wine made of birch sap from the trees in the local forest.

The Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen, along with over 3,200 Marriott-affiliated hotels worldwide, participate in Marriott Rewards, the guest reward program that allows its over 30 million members to earn points or airline miles for each dollar spent during each stay.
