Caribbean/Mexico hotel pipeline for September | STR
The Caribbean/Mexico hotel development pipeline comprises 130 hotels totalling 18,806 rooms, according to the September 2011 STR Construction Pipeline Report. Among the Chain Scale segments, the Unaffiliated segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms in the In Construction phase with 27.7 percent and 2,940 rooms, followed by the Luxury segment (21.9 percent with 2,328 rooms).

Three segments each accounted for more than 20 percent of rooms in the total active pipeline: the Upscale segment (25.5 percent with 4,802 rooms); the Upper Midscale segment (22.7 percent with 4,269 rooms); and the Luxury segment (20.5 percent with 3,854 rooms). The Economy segment made up the smallest portion of rooms in the total active pipeline with 0.6 percent and 122 rooms.
