Hamburg, 6th April 2012 – There are increasingly more new luxury and first class hotels worldwide: until the end of this year 2,358 new top hotels with a total of 519,000 rooms will open their doors. That is more than during the previous year: in 2011 1,375 new high-end hotels with approximately 259,000 rooms newly showed up one the global tourism market. This fact has been derived from a data analysis by TOPHOTELPROJECTS, the leading data research service for international hotel construction projects.

The most significant increase in premium hotel numbers was observed in Asia last year with more than 400 top hotel projects and some 97,000 new rooms now available. This year almost 954 new top hotels with 249,000 rooms will be added to enter the Far Eastern hotel market. "China and India are definitely the most active countries in terms of hotel construction and development projects" comments Christian Berke, International Sales Manager at TOPHOTELPROJECTS.

Las Vegas, home to some of the world's largest hotels with up to 8,000 rooms, new exclusive properties will be added to its current hotel portfolio. During the past year 438 new accommodation facilities with a total of 59,000 rooms were open for booking in North America. According to TOPHOTELPROJECTS 2012 will see 731 new top hotels with round about 117,000 rooms.

In Europe the construction and development of new hotels remains on a high level: 470 new premium hotels with more than 59,000 rooms opened in 2011. This year 436 new top hotels with nearly 80,000 new rooms are due to be inaugurated.

„For the past couple of years we are observing a constant increase of new business hotels, particularly in the Middle East and China, as well as with so-called "me-too branded hotels in the traditional and well developed Western European tourism markets" says Christian Berke. This multi-billion market is like a blue ocean full of opportunities for investors as well as FF&E hotel suppliers.
