The technology-focused, sales and business development executive is bringing extensive domestic and international expertise to expand deployment of the ubiquitous - Mobile Key front desk bypass solution across North America

Los Angeles – OpenWays, the leader in mobile-based access-management and security solutions, today announced the appointment of Michael Cohen as senior vice president business development - hospitality North America. Cohen will further develop and manage the company's sales and marketing efforts, focusing on strategic account planning and sales and marketing operations.

Given the growing demand for Mobile Key by OpenWays in the hospitality market, the company previously announced plans to further invest within this industry sector, and the appointment of Cohen is a key step in executing this strategy. Cohen will be responsible for go-to-market initiatives, sales and channel development, managing demand generation, scaling the business in the Americas, and leading current large-scale deployments with major hotel chains. In addition, the move will enable OpenWays Founder and CEO Pascal Metivier to re-focus his efforts into other high growth regions of the world, including Asia-Pacific and Europe.

"With the strong, growing hospitality market demand for our Mobile Key front desk bypass solution, the timing of Michael’s hire is ideal," Metivier said. "He is a performance-driven executive with a proven ability to drive commercial growth in fluid and complex environments. I look forward to working with him to scale OpenWays market presence and expand our footprint substantially within the hospitality industry."

Cohen is a senior commercialization executive with extensive experience in the hospitality technology industry, as well as Internet, digital imaging and enterprise security solutions sectors. He previously served as a senior sales and business development management executive at AT&T, Superclick Networks and PrinterOn; a management consultant to firms such as Microsoft; and an international technology commercialization manager for the Korean Ministry of Information Technology.

"Mobile Key by OpenWays is a compelling hospitality solution that delivers tangible results for hoteliers and guests alike, and it is being driven by some of the industry's most experienced hospitality security professionals," Cohen said. "It is a leading example of the self-service revolution that is transcending the mobile travel experience from the airport and car rental agency to the hotel. With Mobile Key by OpenWays, guests avoid long lines once they arrive at the hotel by securely using their mobile phones as room keys. At the same time, hotel-to-guest communications improves before, during and after their stay; direct bookings increase; and onsite revenues and guest satisfaction rise. For these reasons and many more, I am delighted to join the OpenWays team."
