Joie de Vivre Hotels is pleased to announce that its newest property, The Epiphany Hotel, in downtown Palo Alto, will open early in 2014. Next door to one of Facebook's first headquarters, a few blocks from Stanford University, and surrounded by Silicon Valley's hottest VC firms, The Epiphany will welcome guests in the heart of the Valley while providing them with the tools they need to succeed and have fun.

"The Epiphany Hotel is tapped into Silicon Valley, inspired by the local streets and neighboring start-up businesses," says Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels & Resorts, Joie de Vivre's parent company. "A playful, authentic property full of imagination and aligned with the local lifestyle, The Epiphany is poised to be an emblem of the Joie de Vivre ethos."

The Epiphany Hotel is an eight-story luxury boutique hotel located at 180 Hamilton Avenue, a block from Palo Alto's prime retail street, University Avenue - home to the likes of the Apple Store and Design Within Reach - and one of only two hotels to open downtown in more than a decade. Shaped by the surrounding start-up zeitgeist, The Epiphany will afford guests and locals an authentic experience, including innovative meeting spaces by IDEO, smart amenities, friendly service, and a casual spirit.

Originally constructed in the 1970s, the building is being rebuilt from the ground up under the direction of esteemed Palo Alto-based Steinberg Architects and McCartan Interior Design, who created the sleek yet warm look of Joie de Vivre's popular Hotel Vitale, in San Francisco. The new exterior of the building-paneled with perforated metal-retains the original façade's six-story-tall mosaic portrait of El Palo Alto, the thousand-year-old coastal redwood that gave the city its name.

The Epiphany Hotel will exude a casual cool featuring clean, bright design, and essential spaces, services, and amenities, combined with whimsical elements, designed to inspire. Renovated according to the best environmental practices, the property will offer 86 guest rooms and suites, including four rooftop hospitality suites.

Guest rooms and suites will be modern yet warm, providing smart, user-friendly capabilities so guests can unwind and relax while easily staying connected. Rooftop hospitality suites - an offering unlike any other in Palo Alto - will be located on the hotel's eighth floor and boast outstanding views of Stanford University's Hoover Tower and stadium scoreboard, the Santa Cruz Mountains and neighboring Los Gatos from each oversized terrace. The suites will feature 10' 6" ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, wood flooring, spacious meeting and living areas with extra countertop space, family-style dining tables, and Murphy Beds, making them ideal for intimate corporate and personal gatherings.

Geared to intuitively meet the needs of the Valley, each room will come equipped with complimentary high-speed Internet, a G-Link dock for streaming movies and games from any mobile device to a large-screen Samsung TV, an ergonomic desk chair, honor bar and dry bar, and Illy espresso maker. Guest rooms and suites will also be furnished with artisan amenities, including Malin + Goetz toiletries, Frette linens, Turkish towels and bathrobes, and Sausalito-based Fred water presented in flask-shaped bottles that can be refilled in the hotel lobby.

Inside the hotel, Palo Alto's IDEO will create mezzanine-level meeting and co-working spaces, including The Accelerator work lounge and Tinderbox boardroom. Unpretentious and easygoing, The Epiphany's mezzanine will be a perfectly wired spot to network, brainstorm, or catch up on work in an open, collaborative environment replete with all the essentials.

On the ground floor of The Epiphany Hotel will be an 80-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar that will serve uncomplicated, seasonal food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service will be available to guests around the clock from the restaurant.

The Epiphany is set to open in early 2014 and is currently accepting reservations for stays starting March 1, 2014. For more information or reservations, visit www.jdvhotels.com.
