Six Senses Brand

LONDON -- HFZ Capital Group, the leading Manhattan-based real estate development and investment company, announced today that Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, the Bangkok-based operator of a celebrated collection of five-star hospitality properties in some of the world's most idyllic locations, will open its flagship North American urban hotel at HFZ's visionary full block mixed-use development project currently under construction at 76 11th Avenue along New York City's famed High Line park.

The overall project, named The Eleventh and slated to open in 2019, features two soaring towers between the High Line and Hudson River designed by award-winning architecture firm, BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group). The architecture draws inspiration from New York City's classic Modernist structures and cultural institutions, while skewing traditional skyscraper geometry with rotating forms that maximise views from both towers. The stone and metal facades will add a dynamic yet harmonious twist to a vibrant West Chelsea neighbourhood that has become known around the world for its groundbreaking contemporary architecture. The punched window openings, meanwhile, are an important nod to the past, a reference to the historic industrial buildings of the neighbourhood and nearby Meatpacking District. The towers will be the tallest buildings in West Chelsea at approximately 300 and 400 feet tall, creating 360-degree expansive vistas of the High Line, Hudson River and downtown and midtown Manhattan skylines.

In addition to bringing a rare new five-star hotel to downtown Manhattan, The Eleventh will offer a new level of elite residential development in New York, with an unprecedented combination of location, architecture, interior design, views, services and lifestyle offerings within a downtown address. HFZ expects this truly comprehensive luxury lifestyle to resonate domestically and abroad, with five-star hotel and spa services and magnificent views from every home being the hallmarks of The Eleventh's approximately 240 residences, spread throughout the two towers. Additionally, one of the project's most exciting aspects is a partnership with Friends of the High Line, which is collaborating with HFZ on a public open-air pedestrian promenade on the site that will run adjacent to the High Line.

"When we acquired the last major downtown development site in 2015 we had a blank slate to create a new neighbourhood on one of the world's most valuable and desired pieces of land. We immediately began seeking collaborators that would meet our vision and enhance it," said HFZ Capital Group Chairman and Founder Ziel Feldman. "It's an urban location, yet our site is flanked by the greenery of the High Line and the calm of the Hudson River. Six Senses operates some of the most beautiful eco-conscious resorts in the world and we knew they were the right partner to explore that connection to nature and create something unique to New York City."

The extraordinary setting combined with an exciting new development project made this opportunity an idyllic "urban home" for the first U.S. hotel project for Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, and its flagship urban property. It will be a signature addition to the Six Senses collection, joining lauded resort properties in Thailand, Maldives, Oman, Portugal and elsewhere.

Six Senses currently operates 10 resorts and 28 spas within a portfolio of inspiring destinations informed by the brand's dedication to marrying wellness and sustainability with uncompromised high-end facilities and services. Pegasus Capital Advisors L.P., the New York-based private equity fund that acquired Six Senses Hotels Reports Spas in 2012, is also a partner in the development project with HFZ. "We've long admired HFZ's portfolio of properties and they are the perfect partner to bring the Six Senses DNA to a thriving metropolis," said Craig Cogut, chairman and president of Pegasus.

"Partnering with HFZ also means that we are working with an organisation with the same passion for design, sustainability and wellness. Over the past three years we have been developing a series of innovative wellness programs that live within our Six Senses Integrated Wellness offerings. Taking these personalised health and spa experiences to New York and combining them with our unique approach to design, building and guest experience will create an exciting footprint in this amazing city," added Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas CEO Neil Jacobs.

Six Senses New York will be located within the East Tower of The Eleventh and feature 137 keys and a large spa, with condominium residences above. The West Tower, the taller of the two, will be entirely dedicated to condominium residences. Further details on the residences, including availability, are forthcoming.
