The Institute of Hospitality was launched on 2 April 2007 and is the new name for the Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA). The Institute of Hospitality represents professional managers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries and has a worldwide membership with members represented in all sectors of the industry including hotels, contract catering , restaurants, pubs and clubs, as well as leisure outlets, theme parks and sports venues. The Institute of Hospitality is managed as an educational charity, and exists to benefit its members in their career and professional development, as well as continuing to improve industry sector standards. STAFF MOVEMENTS
Sir David Michels has assumed the presidency of the Institute of Hospitality during the Annual Fellows' Dinner held at the Corinthia hotel in London this week.
During the dinner, Sir David told the story of how, as a student, he was sacked from Simpson's-in-the-Strand for mistakenly pouring Brown Windsor soup into coffee cups and serving it to American tourists.
He was subsequently more succe... Wednesday 8 February 2012 John Cunningham will be responsible for the institute's portfolio of qualifications, the information services provided to its members, and the forming and maintaining of relationships to increase the availability of qualifications.
Cunningham previously worked for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), and the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).
