ROFOBOX: Winner of the 7th INTERGASTRA prize for innovation

Great honour given to the "RobotFoldingBox": The ROFOBOX (www.rofobox.com) is the winner of the prize for innovation, which is awarded at the catering trade fair INTERGASTRA Stuttgart 2012. This has became known beforehand. The first high-tech table napkin folding machine, which is now in series production is being awarded a special prize at the celebratory trade fair opening on the 11th February 2012 in Stuttgart.
WHAT MAKES THIS PRODUCT SPECIAL?
"We are delighted with this prestigious award", said ROFOBOX chief executive Kartal Can. "The award of the 7th INTERGASTRA prize for innovation for our revolutionary development of the first innovative high-tech table napkin folding machine in the world marks a further important milestone after the successful market launch in Germany."
The INTERGASTRA prize for innovation is awarded by Messe Stuttgart, DEHOGA Baden-Württemberg and AHGZ Allgemeine Hotel- und Gastronomie-Zeitung and has an international leading role. A top-class jury makes the prize the highest specialist award. The award-winning product, service and design solutions are presented before more than 80,000 specialist visitors during INTERGASTRA. The jury decided to award a special prize because this technology admittedly not for all the small and medium-sized companies, but for their service providers and of course for large hotel companies is an interesting option to reduce costs.
The ROFOBOX was introduced to the public for the first time in June. Since then a fully automatic, close-to-production prototype has been running reliably in the Estrel Hotel Berlin and has already accurately and hygienically folded more than 40,000 table napkins. In the second quarter of 2012 the first series production model of the ROFOBOX is going to be installed and commissioned in the family-run company Wäsche- und Textilpflege König, in Groß-Umstadt near Frankfurt am Main. Thereby the laundry service König makes the innovative invention "Made in Germany" available to the hotel, gastronomy, event and catering industries.
The main advantages of the ROFOBOX are the cost savings, the time gain and the increased motivation of the service staff. They are now able to concentrate on more important tasks such as looking after guests or service training, for example. A further benefit of the fully automated table napkin folding machine is the assured hygiene factor. As the table napkins are also brought to the guests' mouth, particular measures apply here – before the innovative automation these could not be guaranteed.
Based in Kornwestheim near Stuttgart, ROFOBOX GmbH was founded in 2008 by Kartal Can, an experienced catering entrepreneur and graduate international business economist. As a start-up it was highlighted last autumn, among others by Gründerwoche Deutschland (founder week Germany) as an example of best practice.
