Currently there are 120 hotel members, with 33,377 rooms that represent 70% of the national tourism inventory. The hotel association also has as members 45 restaurants and 189 allied members that supply goods and services to the gastronomic and hotel establishments. Founded on June 18, 1962, it is a private entity organized and established under the Dominican law under the “Non- profit Organization”. ASONAHORES, is the leader in the private tourist sector and handles significant roles with private and public institutions that are interested in highlighting the importance tourism has on the economic and social aspects of the country, as well as, the importance of the gastronomic and hospitality industry in our nation, claiming the necessary attention that authorities must dispense.
ASONAHORES annually celebrates important events. The most important one commercializes goods and services to the hotel and gastronomic sector, called the Commercial Exposition, which is celebrated the last week of August. Its purpose is to show and promote these goods and services between buyers and suppliers members of this organization. On April, together with the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA), the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange, DATE, is created to provide a professionally organized business exchange where wholesalers and tour operators can meet and conduct business with Dominican Republic's leading tourism suppliers to provide a business exchange between tour operators and hotels. Another event is the Summer Fair, celebrated in May, where the hoteliers promote their season to the local market.
