The 117-room Alila Yangshuo is set to debut this July among the karst mountains of Yangshuo, China with designs from Vector Architects. Housed within a restored sugar mill, the property will convey an industrial-modern quality as a contrast to its natural setting. The firm will juxtapose the old with the new, highlighting the retro elements of the mill"s 1960s architecture.

The historical Sugar Pressing Room will host an onsite restaurant, while the 1969 Bar will boast an in-house rum distillery alongside the property"s pool. The subterranean Spa Alila will be accessible via an ultra-modern spiral entryway. The facility will be clad with walls and floors crafted from underground volcanic rocks unearthed during the construction process. An outdoor garden will also be featured as part of the spa. Other amenities will include a library, an Alila Living boutique, private dining pier, fitness center, kids" club, and creative designs spaces for up to 20 guests.
