Miami-based boutique hotel owner-operators, Jesper & Gustaf Arnoldsson of SMS Lodging, have partnered with long time Exuma real estate investors, Steve & Patrick Harrington and prominent Bahamian entrepreneur, Burton Rodgers, to acquire the historic Peace & Plenty Hotel on Great Exuma, The Bahamas. SMS Lodging will manage all aspects of operations, including sales, marketing and reservations.

Built in 1958 by Lawrence Lewis, the grandnephew of railroad tycoon Henry Flagler – the pioneer developer of much of Florida and the Florida Keys over a century ago – the Peace & Plenty is an historical icon of the Bahamian "Out Islands". Together, the new owners will work to pay homage to the property"s history, while simultaneously revitalizing the hotel with a noticeable top-to-bottom refresh, including the addition of all of the modern conveniences that today"s travelers have come to expect. The property is slated to re-open in mid-December following the updates.

The boutique hotel features 35 waterfront rooms, a pool, restaurant, two bars, and dock along Elizabeth Harbour. Its central location in downtown Georgetown makes it the perfect launch pad for all that the Southern Bahamas has to offer - whether it"s swimming with the famous Exuma Pigs, snorkeling in the Thunderball Grotto or Dean"s Blue Hole, exploring the pristine beaches of Stocking Island just across Elizabeth Harbour, or simply sitting back in a lounge chair at the pool bar with a "Goombay Smash" in hand enjoying the natural beauty of the island.
